BETINSKA GAJETA

Gajeta, a traditional fishing boat with a rounded hull, wider bow and sharper stern. In addition to fishing, it was used to transport people, livestock and various loads, even for warfare. On Korcula, it was 4–10 m long and had a load capacity of 3–6 t. In central Dalmatia, as a cargo, heavy boat, it reached a length of up to 12 m and a load capacity of 5–12 t. Shorter boats (4–5 m) were called gajetica.
