BRIGANTINO A PALO

A barque is a medium-sized sailing ship that found wide use between the 16th and 18th centuries, it was easily maneuverable thanks to the presence of a second mast and a second system of sails. In fact, it has three masts: the foremast and mainmast rigged with square sails, the bizzen with gaff sails; it also has a bow sprit. It was widely used for commercial purposes, but, thanks to its maneuverability and potential, it could easily be equipped in such a way that it could escort commercial convoys, defending them against frequent pirate attacks.
