Leut, the largest traditional fishing boat or smaller boat of the eastern Adriatic, 8-15 m long and carrying 8-10 t. It is intended for professional fishing and cargo transportation. It is similar to a gajeta, longer and fuller in shape, and less slender underwater, in order to achieve greater displacement and greater load capacity. It is suitable for navigation in open and rough seas. The original form on the eastern Adriatic originates from Korčula, and was also built in Betina, Zadar and elsewhere. It was equipped with a mast with a Latin sail, and four large oars.
