The Niña, which means "little girl" in Spanish, was one of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492. Niña, according to testimonies, was Columbus's most favorite ship. On Columbus's first expedition, the Niña had 18 crew members, commanded by Vincente Yanez Pinzon. She landed on the Bahama mainland at dawn on October 12, 1492. After the Santa Maria ran aground, Columbus transferred to the Niña and arrived with her in Palos de la Frontera on March 15, 1493
